Fresh water delivered through pipe in kitchen faucet

I reside in a new complex that was constructed in approximately 2006. In the kitchen sink, there is a faucet that is designed to deliver fresh drinking water. I think you all know what I mean. But I have always been suspicious of those devices. You know.....whether BJ water is safe to drink or not, and whether that pipe is indeed delivering fresh water.

Does anyone know how to doublecheck and verify the safety of that water?

The management company (wuye) requires a special water fee to re-supply this piped in water when it runs low. This is a separate fee from the hot water etc. But I'm still not convinced. Anyone have experience with this before and know how to check?
