Baby clothes -- most of the time your baby is going to be inside during beijing's winter, and most apartments here are pretty warm. some things to consider are: lots of thin layers (this way you can add/subtract to suit your baby's temperature)

In terms of keeping the little one warm, I'd suggest that you get a thermometer with a humidity gage to hang prominently near where the baby sleeps. The thermometer I have shows the "comfort zone" so that you can accurately judge whether the room is too cold/too hot and too dry/too humid for the baby.

Beijing's dry winters are what you need to think about rather than the temperature ... i'd suggest a humidifier for this purpose.

As for where the baby sleeps, it's a matter of personal choice. Some parents want their child sleeping independently as soon as possible. Others enjoy having the little one snuggling with mom and dad in bed.

Advantages of baby sleeping in a crib: you have more room in your bed.
Advantages of baby sleeping in your bed: easier to breastfeed, calm baby in the night without the need to get up and go to the crib.
