Re: Organic foods

Here is a list of some of the main organic food sources I know about, most of them provide home delivery which is great. Organic Farm also sells to Carrefour, so their selection isn't bad for veggies.

Organic Milk and Yogurt -
Joan -
organiclife@greenyard.cn - 13901282292
Delivers once a week, if you order regularly, you can pay one month in advance and get a discount.
The yogurt is the more liquid kind rather than the thick set type.

Organic Fruit and Veg and Rice
Klaus -
organicfarm@126.com
They send a spreadsheet twice a week, and you choose what you want, minimum 100RMB.
We get our organic brown rice from them, and sometimes they have great apples, pears and grapes too. Also garlic, chili, onion and herbs. They sell to Carrefour and lots of the hotels and restaurants so have a very large selection.

De Run Wu Organic Farm
Ji YunLiang -
jiyunliang@vip.163.com
They also sell to restaurants and hotels. They just started strawberries and they are great! they send a word document with photos of what's available every week, you choose what you want and they send 4KG for 80RMB.
Although you can't choose the specific amounts of each item, they seem to be a good mix most of the time.

Organic Weekend
HYPERLINK
wdf@cosep.net
They also send a weekly spreadsheet to order from

Just write to all of them, and ask to be added to their lists, then you will get the list every week, and can order when and what you want. I have been very impressed with the customer service from all of them.

I get weekly orders from Greenyard (milk and yogurt), and alternate between De Run Wu and Organic Farm (Klaus) depending upon what we need - if we need rice, garlic, onions, etc... I get organic farm - if we just need the regular green veggies, then De Run Wu.

Supermarket
www.lohaocity.com

It isn't 100% organic, but they have great local organic soy milk, firm tofu, green eggs, (all from their farm) as well as what I think is a really amazing selection of organic noodles from different grains and vegetables as well as some tofu noodles.
They also have a delivery catalog you can pick up at their shop, it doesn't list everything but it is quite convenient. They also have a huge farm outside of Beijing which looks amazing, but we haven't visited yet.

You can also get a HK brand called Green Dot at many of the shops now, including Jenny Lou's- they are basically just bags of grains, beans and some mixes (congee). There are a few imported organic products at Lohao City and Jenny Lou's.

For imported meat and seafood (not specifically organic), contact the Yahoo group:

You have to go pay one day, and pick up your order a later day.

There is also a really helpful organic Yahoo group - great resources in the 'files' link on the left of the page.

Most of the information above originally came from this group Smile

Hope that helps, happy eating!!

Re: Organic foods

Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for!
We're planning on moving to Beijing in Sept, so now I know what to do.

Re: Organic foods

Good luck! All the information that was provided was right on! It took me a whole year to accumulate and figure out where to buy all those things. I particularly like the delivery services provided by Organic Farm. Their vegetables are always fresh and tasty!

Re: Organic foods - Tofu at Lohao

I just tried the homemade organic tofu at Lohao and it is really quite good. It’s very dense, so it’s easy to slice and bake. My kids like tofu fingers: slice it into sticks, sprinkle with a bit of soy sauce and coat with the same mixture you’d use to make chicken fingers (I mix crushed rice krispies, flour, corn meal, salt, pepper and a dash of Chinese 5 spice). Bake in a 375 degree F oven for about 20 minutes, turning once. They can dip it in whatever sauce they like: ketchup, peanut sauce, ranch dressing. If you’re bored of chicken or just want to get your kids on some healthy foods, give it a try.
