Re: water for babies

I'm no mum but when we used to bottle-feed my baby brother we just boiled tap water for a lengthy period.

Re: water for babies

Our toddler daughter drinks what she calls "waterman water" which is a standard bottled water that we have delivered from a local company. While there have been fakes found on the local market, we have not had this problem so far. Mostly that has been with the Western brand names. You can always check the numbers on the caps, either by telephone or on the internet. If the bottle does not have a paper under the seal, or it has already been scratched, refuse the bottle.

If you have trouble trusting the water supply, you could arrange to purchase Watson's Water as it is the brand the US embassy has done quality testing and inspections on, and provides to its employees. Or purchase smaller containers of Watson's or a brand you trust and use them just for your child's needs.

I would not use boiled water for a young infant as the real concern is the heavy metals that are in the tap water. Boiling kills off viral and biological contaminants. Things like lead, arsenic, and the like will actually be at hire concentrations after boiling.

The best way to avoid this issue is to breastfeed your child, but I understand that for some families it is not an option.

Good luck with the little one!

Oh, we have a relatively advanced water-filtering system so I didn't really think of that.

Re: water for babies

Not all mineral water bottles are suitable for babies. Only the ones with less minerals are ok like Evian or Nongfu otherwise you overload your baby with minerals that its body cannot get rid of yet.
