Bad experience with Filipinos
- 582 reads
Have employed a Filipino via the classifieds in this website. We interview her, and she is ok through the process and very punctual. Although she is not very experienced, and like all other, no reference you can check, we still decided to give it a try as long as she has the right personality. (cos we met worse during some other interview process), she came to work last Sunday, and this morning, she told me she decided to leave, reason is her mom is sick and situation is not stable, giving me a 15min notice. She get pay for RMB600 for her 6 days work and left (which I may use to have a full time ayi for one month). Now I found her ad appear again in the classified. Very disappointed, seems most of the Filipino we interview is not honest, how cld u then leave your new born baby for them to take care?
I suspect if this is a common practice that they work for a very short period and leave, so that may be one of the reason they cannot provide and referral but just keep having jobs.
Next time, I will definately sign a contract with them and that may help to protect myself. Some year end bonus or min working days may help. I feel I spend whole week to teach her and get her familiar with the work and surroundings all wasted.
I am very worry as I will be a mom in April, and we have been looking for Nanny since end Nov.

Re: Bad experience with Filipinos
Hello!
I am so sorry to hear that. Though I am with the same nationality of your previous ayi, I can say YES...not all filipinos can be trusted but to generalize as i believe...ALL of us human with different races have our own indifferences and thus the case unfortunately, you haven't met the right ayi for you. I am on your side coz for me, I do strongly believe with HONESTY, Here you can gain Trust.
But....
Hope still your post here wont affect others oppurtunity to find job i here.
Wish you luck and may you find a good ayi!

YY, unfortunately a lot of the Filipinos ayis are con by employment agents or friends who give them fake information. As some are from province, they came here by borrowing money from friends and need to pay back. Of course some need money ASAP to cover their visa from L(14 days) to F (6months to 1 year)
I had interview many and encountered exactly your situation. I still have some candidates tel no and some seems nice. But there is no guarantee as I believe most dont have experience but thinking as they are a houswife back home, they definitely can do this ayi job. However once you started to instruct them to do things they are not familiar with, they started to panic or give up.
Should you need to find one, I am more than happy to assist. PM me. I finally got myself a fantastic Filipina ayi and is the BEST I got after going through 4 of them and most just like the case you mentioned.

Hello singlemom and YYinBJ,
First off, I'm so sorry that you got bad experiences with Filipino ayis. I truly understand your situations. Sadly, most of the time, they are true.
Yes, having a signed contract will definitely make things better. I strongly suggest that you check their visas, too. Please don't hire those that got non-working visas as they are not legitimate OFWs (overseas Filipino workers). It is for both parties' good.
Anyways, I'm hoping that you (singlemom) can find a good, honest & reliable ayi/nanny, regardless of nationality.
I'm happy that you (YYinBJ) have found yours.
