Bringing Filipino nanny to Beijing

Hi, I have a question on brining my Filipino nanny to Beijing. She has been with us for more than 6 months and has been a great helper so I would like to bring her along with us to Beijing.
I understand it is possible, but I have been told that most Philippine nannies working in Beijing hold a Business visa. According to very recent regulations, the visa can not be renewed (to Philippine passport holders). The business visa is valid 1-3 months normally. Upon expiration, the nanny has to exit China and reapply for the visa.
Anyone knows if there is any way to get around this?

Re: Bringing Filipino nanny to Beijing
hightea, it is a very grey area right now as Chinese Govt are clamping down on visa extension for Filipinos as according to the agents I dealt with due to excessive arriving in China looking for jobs.
your nanny can come in on any visa:if L(tourist visa) can be switched to F(business visa either 6 months to 1 year). all this can be done locally for a fee. lately, for 6 months F visa which used to be RMB1200 has increased agressively monthly to RMB1800, 2000, 2500, 2920.
however if your nanny's visa is F switching to F, it will be cheaper by couple of hundreds RMB.
there also other options should the above doesnt work for you. let me know and hopefully I can provide you more info.
Good luck!!

in case, there a lots of options here, to hire a good filipina nanny if you need. more expensive than a chinese ayi (but still reasonable), but you get better english and many think, better help.

Thanks for your replies.
This visa renewal thingy is such a hassle and costly too. However, I would really like to have my helper for another 15-18 months at least. Where can I find help for getting her a 1 year business visa and what is the cost? If I can get a 1-yr visa, at least I know, I only have to renew it once.
Also, are there any uncertainties when during renewal, or is it just paperwork? The fees for renewal - are they standard or are they agent fees that can vary?

hightea, visa fee varies from several factors(too long to go in details). actually it is no hassle at all as long as you find a reliable agent to extend the visa. current rate for 1 year is RMB10,000 and it is not through every agency. my opinion just bring the nanny on 1 month tourist visa and work from here. i am working on mine now.

What is the typical salary of an ayi from the Phillipines here in Beijing?

Salary varies from RMB 2200 to 3500 due to reasons below :
- increment on Filipinos visa extensions
- expats staying in Shunyi or from Embassy normlly will pay higher
somewhere around RMB 3000 - 3500 which makes most Filipina 'pushing
their luck by asking for that rate sometimes without experience
I personally feel it should depends on how big the home is as well as how many people the ayi has to serve. Some Filipinas really have good experience and deserve the rate they asked for while some totally inexperience still ask the higher rate which makes me wonder if they have done their homework as local ayi is so much more cheaper. Most came in on tourist visa and will work for a couple of months to get their visa paid then proceed to move to next employer for higher salary. Some were conned by domestic agency in Philippines that they can get higher salary and job as soon as they arrive.
After going through severals, I think and hope finally this domestic helper I have now is the RIGHT ONE. So far so good..keeping my fingers cross.
BJ laowai, the visa can be extended for 6 months or 1 year now. Tha rates varies from RMB2800 to RMB4000. Good luck,

Re: Bringing Filipino nanny to Beijing
Hi,
We will be moving to Beijing soon and we too would like to bring our Filipina helper with us.
Is a tourist visa really enough to begin with? Where do we start to obtain all the necessary paperwork? We want to make sure everything is in order as soon as possible, our helper has been with us for a very long time and we want to make sure she is o.k.
Would appreciate feedback! Thanks!

If anyone is still looking for help to get busniess visa for Filipino maids, this guy is recommended by my maid. Apparently, he can help to get a one year business visa.
