babysitter help!

Have friends visiting mid next month and would dearly love to take them out on the friday night, since they rarely get the chance.
problem is...need a babysitter for their sometimes-stroppy-usually-lovely 5 year old girl (aren't they all like this!!!).
prob between 10pm and 3am latest. Decent rate paid.
Can anyone recommend someone either chinese or western???? (girl speaks both fantastic english and chinese).

Sorry to jump in without an answer, but I also would like to know if there is a way to hire an occasional babysitter. I don't want or need a nanny or full timer. I just want to be able to go out to dinner with my husband once in a while sans child. I used to live at the Landmark Towers and they had this service. You just reserved in advance and paid an hourly rate. Is there any "rent a mom" like there is in HK where you can do the hourly thing? Also wondering...

You could try one of the Ayi agencies. They have ayis on staff who can speak English. Some of the groups can arrange one-time service.

My friends have an Australian babysitter every saturday night, she is an early childhood development instructor and they pay her 60kuai an hour.

I used this local lady sometimes when my Filipina maid take her off day on Sunday. She only charge RMB10 but dont speak English. Not too sure about the late night till 3am. If you are keen, let me know so I shall give you her mobile number and you would have to get Chinese speaking friend to talk to her.
