Every evening, a block of Donghuamen is occupied by an army of food carts manned by cheerful chefs serving myriad Chinese snacks. Good fun can be had by filling your child’s plate with some of the more exotic offerings (scorpions, deep-fried silk worms, sparrows on a stick) and telling them that unless they finish everything it’s no TV for the rest of the month!
